On 26 May 2024, H.E. Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour of Thailand had a meeting at the Carlton Hotel in Tel Aviv with H.E. Mr. Moshe Arbel, the Israeli Minister of the Interior, overseeing the bringing in of foreign workers to Israel. Also present was Ms. Pannabha Chandraramya, Ambassador of Thailand to Israel. Both sides discussed measures to ensure safety for Thai workers in Israel's agricultural sector, especially during the time of conflict, and cooperation in sending more Thai workers to work in Israel's agricultural sector. The Thai side requested Israel to increase the quota for Thai workers to come to work in Israel's agricultural sector from 6,000 to 10,000 people a year, which the Israeli side has agreed to.
The discussion was also focused on the protection of their workers' rights, as well as progress on the ongoing negotiations of an agreement to send Thai workers to work in Israel's construction sector.
Additionally, during his visit, Minister Phiphat will meet with the Israeli Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Israeli Minister of Labour, as well as visit Thai workers in both construction and agricultural sectors in Israel.
