On 5 September 2022, the Royal Thai Embassy organized “The Flavours of Thailand under Jerusalem Sky” culinary event to promote Thai cuisine in Jerusalem, the first since the COVID-19 pandemic. The event consists of
(1) A cooking workshop by Chef Sawalee Eldar, lecturer at Bishulim Culinary School בישולים and owner of Thai Kitchen to an audience of renowned chefs before a practical hands-on session. The dishes utilised both authentic Thai ingredients as well as fresh local ingredients found in the world-famous Machane Yehuda Market. The four dishes are Pla Neau (spicy marinated beef salad), Hor Mok Hed (steamed curried mushroom wrapped in banana leaves), Salt crusted grilled fish with Thai spicy dipping sauce, and Thai Sweet Sticky Rice With Mango.
(2) Cocktail reception to showcase the delight of Thai gastronomy to distinguished guests including Mayor of Jerusalem Moshe Lion.
The Embassy wishes to thank Chef Tali Friedman and Jerusalem wineries - יקבי ירושלים אגודה חקלאית for their contribution and support for this event.
