On 13 July 2020, H.E. Ms. Pannabha Chandraramya, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Israel, on behalf of the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand, together with H.E. Ltn. Gen. (res.) Gabi Ashkanezi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, signed the Agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Government of the State of Israel regarding the Recruitment for Employment of Thai Workers for Temporary Work in the Agricultural Sector in the State of Israel. The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel in Jerusalem. H.E. Mr. Alon Schuster, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the State of Israel also attended to witness the signing ceremony.

This Agreement marks a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration under the Thailand-Israel Cooperation of the Placement of Workers which is a Government-to-Government framework. It outlines provisions regarding the recruitment of Thai workers in Israel’s agricultural sector, the return of Thai workers at the conclusion of their working contracts, the exchange of information and the cooperation between the two countries on matters relating to this Agreement.

On this occasion, Ambassador Chandraramya reiterated that Thailand attaches great importance to the implementation of the Deposit Fund for the Thai agricultural workers and urged the Israeli Government to resolve any pending matter that has delayed its implementation since 2018 at the earliest opportunity.
