On 27 May 2024, H.E. Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour of Thailand met with H.E. Mr. Yoav Ben Tzur, Minister of Labour of Israel, accompanied Ms. Pannabha Chandraramya, Ambassador of Thailand to Israel. Both sides discussed ensuring safety for Thai workers in Israel's agricultural sector, cooperation in sending more Thai workers to work in Israel's agricultural and construction sectors, and the possibility to expand other sectors for Thai workers. The Thai side requested Israel to increase the quota for Thai workers to come to work in Israel's agricultural sector from 6,000 to 10,000 people a year, which the Israeli side has agreed to.
The discussion was also focused on measures to protect Thai workers' rights in Israel. The Thai side requested the Israel side's cooperation in following up on the unpaid salary and severance pay (pitzuim) for Thai workers in the agricultural sector in Israel.
