In the evening of 29 June 2023, the Royal Thai Embassy organized “Discover Thai Jazz” concert, which featured a live performance by “Pomelo Town” a renowned Jazz band from Thailand. The concert took place at Targ Auditorium, Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, Tel Aviv University. Audience included members of diplomatic corps in Israel, representatives from Israeli government agencies, private sector and academic institutions, as well as Friends of Thailand.

 

The performance featured Pomelo Town’s original song composed especially for their performances in Israel, as well as songs composed with the inspiration from a Thai northern musical instrument, giving rise to a perfect harmony between western contemporary and Thai folk music. In addition, before the performance, the Royal Thai Embassy also organized a reception featuring Thai food, promoting Thailand as “Kitchen of the World.”

 

Pomelo Town’s performances at the Jerusalem Jazz Festival and at the Buchmann-Mehta University provided an eye-opening experience that presented Thailand in a new perspective and strengthened friendship between Thailand and Israel through the universal language of music.
